
Sports bets surpass $1B two years after launch

New Hampshire Lottery and DraftKings announced Wednesday that legal sports wagering has surpassed the $1 billion mark.
Sports betting became legal two years ago, according to a news release from NH Lottery. Wagers can be placed online or at sportsbooks locations at The Brook in Seabrook and Filotimo Casino in Dover and Manchester.
As of last week, more than 23 million bets have been placed since Dec. 30, 2019
Gov. Chris Sununu said he plans to place a bet on the Patriots for the upcoming playoffs. The hometown team remains the most bet-on team, according to the release.
Charlie McIntyre, executive director of NH Lottery, said sports betting has brought in more than $30 million to support schools.
“We are pleased with what we have accomplished and we are excited to continue growing sports betting as a revenue driver supporting our schools,” he said.
The 2021 Super Bowl was the largest single-game sports betting event over the past two years, bringing in $7.1 million in wagers. The top five sports for betting are the NFL, NBA, college basketball, college football and table tennis.
