Five New Hampshire high school hockey players competed Thursday alongside former Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron during a special skills competition — and left with $1,000 for each of their schools.
The New Hampshire Lottery awarded the players as part of a special event and competition featuring Bergeron at the Conway Arena in Nashua to celebrate the lottery’s commitment to and support for public education.
Frank Tessier of Manchester Memorial High School, Dillon Boucher of Berlin High School, Ethan Peluso of Windham High School, Lucas Arlen of John Stark Regional High School and Cameron Roberge of Manchester Memorial High School competed against Bergeron in shooting, passing, and stickhandling skills competitions to earn prize money for their schools.
“What an incredible celebration and opportunity for these high school players to get on the ice with a player and person like Patrice,” said Charlie McIntyre, New Hampshire Lottery executive director.
Bergeron was also visiting New Hampshire to help the lottery and DraftKings celebrate the fifth anniversary of sports betting in the Granite State. Following the Conway Arena skills competition, the lottery hosted a public event and question-and-answer session with Bergeron at The Nash Casino in Nashua.
