The state’s first Mega Millions jackpot winner has claimed their $168 million prize through a trust. The winner claimed the prize through the Just as B4 Nominee Trust of 2019, Portsmouth, which is facilitated by attorney William S. Shaheen, who will serve as trustee.
The winner, who purchased the jackpot winning ticket at the Brookside Market & Deli in Exeter for the drawing on Tuesday, July 23, chose the one-time cash prize of $108.5 million. While New Hampshire has sold 11 Powerball jackpot winning tickets, this is New Hampshire’s first Mega Millions winner.
The Brookside Market & Deli received $75,000 for selling the winning ticket.
“As trustees for the winners, we applaud the New Hampshire Lottery’s cooperation and respect for privacy, which doesn’t allow for any further comment beyond that of our gratitude. In addition, we congratulate the Brookside Market & Deli for their prize in selling the winning ticket,” said Bill Shaheen, Trustee and Stacey Shaheen Bellabona, successor trustee for the winners.
Charlie McIntyre, executive director, New Hampshire Lottery, called the amount life-changing. “We always like to meet our winners in person but we certainly respect the winner’s preference for privacy,” he said.
Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale until 9:50 p.m. the night of the drawing at more than 1,400 retailers statewide, as well as through iLottery. For more information and to play, visit www.nhlottery.com.
