2020 CHAD Battle Of The Badges Hockey Game Raises $192,000

The 13th annual CHaD Battle of the Badges Hockey Classic was played on Friday but without fans watching in person.
Thousands of dollars were raised just on Friday for the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center while the game was streamed live on WMUR.com. Team Fire, the defending champions, won again. They beat Team Police 9-4 in a great game.
Team Fire pulled away toward the end of the contest.
More than $192,000 has been raised for the cause, despite fans being barred from the game.
Since starting 12 years ago, Team Fire and Team Police have raised nearly $3 million.
The decision was made to have no spectators inside SNHU Arena due to ongoing concerns about the spread of COVID-19.
“I don’t think it was as much of a factor as we thought it would be,” said Jeff Clattenburg from the Lebanon Fire Department. “Certainly, the environment here was a lot different but we’re still two teams. We fund-raised all year for this. We wanted to come out here and play a competitive game, and that’s exactly what it was.”
Team Police coach, Ben Slocum, was not fazed by the lack of a crowd either.
“I don’t think that had anything to do with it. We threw everything we had at them. Hats off to the fire guys. Their goalie stood on his head for them,” Slocum said.
Team Police still leads the overall series 7-5.
